How do I choose the right size hat?
Simple: measure around your child's head at its widest point, just above the eyebrows and ears, then check our size chart. The age ranges are a rough guide only - use the measurement for the best fit. If they're between sizes, size up.
What does UPF 50+ actually mean?
UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) measures how much UV radiation gets through a fabric. UPF 50+ is the highest rating under the Australian/New Zealand standard AS/NZS 4399 and means the fabric blocks at least 98% of UV rays. A hat only protects what it covers, so keep using sunscreen, shade and sunnies too.
Are the earmuffs safe for babies and infants?
Yes, when used within their recommended age range of 0-4 years. Babies have open fontanelles (the soft spots on top of the skull), so our earmuffs use a soft elastic band that sits around the back of the head rather than a rigid band pressing over the top. Once their fontanelles have closed, the interchangeable over-the-head style earmuff can be used. Always check the fit before each use, never leave your child unsupervised while wearing them, and don't use them for sleep.
Can the hats go in the washing machine?
We recommend a gentle cold machine wash in a laundry bag, or a hand wash, with the earmuff flap closed and zip done up. Don't use bleach or fabric softener, since softener can coat the fibres. Reshape and dry flat in the shade. Don't tumble dry.
How can I clean the earmuffs?
Wipe the cups and cushions with a damp cloth and mild soap, then let them air dry. Never submerge them in water. The elastic band can be hand washed separately in luke-warm water. Replace the earmuffs if the cushions crack or the band loses its stretch, because this affects the seal and protection.
What earmuffs are the hats compatible with?
Our hats are designed to be universally compatible, and have been tested with a range of different sizes including large adult earmuffs. If you already own earmuffs and have any concerns over the compatibility, please email hello@cinnysunco.com and we can check for you.
Can the earmuffs be worn with headphones, electronic earmuffs or hearing devices?
The magnets in our hats are too small to damage headphones or electronic earmuffs, and won't affect sound quality. If your little one wears a hearing aid, cochlear implant or bone-conduction device, we recommend checking with your audiologist before use.
Are the magnets safe?
Yes - safety was our first consideration. The magnets are fully enclosed inside the fabric and stitched in place, so they can't be reached or come loose with normal wear. The hats have been independently tests for children's product safety under INPUT MAND STAND HERE. As with all children's products, check the hat regularly for wear or damage, and stop using it if any seams come apart.
Can my child wear the hat without earmuffs?
Absolutely. Most days it's just a hat. When the flap is closed, it looks and works like a normal hat, with full sun coverage and no gaps. When you need hearing protection, simply open the flap and pop the earmuffs on.
When should my child wear earmuffs?
Little ears are more sensitive to loud noise than adult ears, and noise damage is permanent. Earmuffs are a great idea anywhere noise is loud or sustained, such as:
- concerts, festivals and fireworks
- motorsport, air shows and sporting events
- around farm machinery, chainsaws or power tools
- on boats and jet skis

Orders & Shipping
Where do you ship to?
We currently ship Australia-wide. We are unable to provide international shipping at this time, but hope to in future. Please email hello@cinnysunco.com if you would be interested in this so we can gauge demand.
How long does delivery take?
Orders are packed within 1–2 business days. Standard delivery usually takes 2–8 business days, depending on where you are. Rural and remote addresses may take a little longer, but we will make sure you have a tracking number so you can follow your parcel's progress.
Do you offer express shipping?
Not at the moment. We're a small business on a rural property 30 minutes from town, so post runs are planned trips. We've also found that out here, express usually only shaves a day or two off delivery. Every order comes with tracking, so you can follow your parcel all the way to your door.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Email us at hello@cinnysunco.com as soon as possible. If your order hasn't been packed yet, we're happy to change or cancel it. Once it's shipped, our returns policy applies.
My order hasn't arrived. What do I do?
First check your tracking link and your spam folder for updates. If it's been more than 4 business days past the estimated delivery date, email us with your order number and we'll chase it up with the carrier.
Returns & Warranty
What is your return policy?
If you've changed your mind, we accept returns within 30 days of delivery for unworn items with tags attached, in original packaging. Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is at your cost. This doesn't affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law (see below).
My product arrived damaged. What do I do?
We're so sorry. Please email us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the damage, and we'll arrange a replacement or refund at no cost to you.
Australian Consumer Law rights statement
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Safety & Certifications
What certifications do your hats have?
Our hat fabrics are independently tested to MANDATORY STANDARDS INPUT HERE and rated UPF 50+ under AS/NZS 4399.
What certifications do your sunglasses have?
Our Flaparoo Sunnies meet the mandatory Australian standard AS/NZS 1067.1:2016. They're lens category 3 and block [99–100%] of UV.
What certifications do your earmuffs have?
There's currently no Australian standard written specifically for baby and infant earmuffs. Ours are certified to the European standard EN 352-1 for hearing protectors, with a noise reduction rating of SNR 27 dB.
Are your fabrics safe for children?
Our fabrics are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, meaning they've been tested and found negative for harmful substances.
